Liana was 29 years old and four months pregnant with her second child when she was murdered in Edmonton Alberta in 2005.
Her killer, Michael White, was sentenced to 17 years without any chance of parole.
Less than 15 years after murdering his pregnant wife and dumping her body in a ditch he appeared before the Parole Board of Canada.
In spite of the judges original sentence, he was granted parole in the form of multiple unsupervised absences. The purpose of which was said to be so he could familiarize himself with the city of Barrie Ontario where he plans on living.
While incarcerated he started a new relationship. At the hearing he was pressed on an incident that took place with his new girlfriend. Details were not given but his response to the line of questioning was, “It just got out of hand.”
His parole officer noted he tested high on a risk assessment for spousal abuse.
Michael White maintains that he didn’t brutally kill his wife and unborn child despite the evidence that led to his conviction.
And despite his refusal to admit guilt for the crime, he was again granted parole in February 2021 from the minimum security prison in which he was held.
On June 6th, 2023, Michael White, who brutally stabbed his wife and preborn child to death and then dumped them in a ditch, was granted full parole.
