Charlie Larez was 3 months pregnant. Her boyfriend/killer claimed to not have known she was pregnant when he strangled her where she slept.

The victim’s aunt stated, “She was very excited about the baby.”

He was charged with first-degree murder and committing an indignity to a body. The second charge stems from allegedly having raped her after she had died.

He had previously served a five-year prison term for sexually assaulting and forcibly confining a woman he had been dating. A peace bond had been imposed on him after he was released in 2013, as authorities felt he should be under surveillance, fearing he would commit another violent crime once he was free. He did not abide by the conditions of his release.

In an unusual move by someone facing first degree murder charges – her killer plead guilty.

In no way was her pregnancy added as an aggravating factor in his sentence.

He will receive 25 years before being eligible for “full” parole. The ‘standard’ for anyone found guilty of first degree murder.
